Being in Cyprus

Cyprus is an island in the middle of the Mediterranean sea. Don’t get it confused with Crete though, when you look it up on a map. Cyprus is closer to Turkey and Crete is closer to Greece. Anyways, it is awesome here.

We are in the city Paphos. The water is super close by, and we have a pool in our back yard. Every day it gets up to the 60’s or 70’s fahrenheit, but because of the sun, it feels a lot warmer.

Yesterday, we took a walk down to the sea. I took off my shoes and played around in the water for a while. I told Liam to taste the water, and i showed him that i tasted it. I told him it was freshwater so he tried it. His reaction was so funny. The water in the mediterranean tastes more salty than the stuff in California, so it tastes even worse.

We were surprised to see that here in Cyprus, they use the same outlets as the UK, so we only have one good converter to plug our stuff into. If they used the same outlets as the rest of Europe, we would have a much easier time.

Dad had to leave this week to go to Vancouver, Canada, so we don’t get to see him. All we can do is laugh at him because he has to be cold all week long, and we are on a really nice warm island. Ha ha ha Dad if you are reading this and to all the people in Reno that have to be in that snowstorm.

This week Nana came to Cyprus with us, so that makes it better to be without Dad. She is the lucky person from Reno.

  1. So glad you and Nana are enjoying Cyprus. When Uncle John and I were there awhile back, lots of Russians had second homes on the Greek portion of Cyprus. We weren’t allowed to cross the green fence to the Turkish side of Cyprus. I couldn’t get over the amazing mosaic floors in some of the ruins—and those who touched its shores as they traveled the Mediterranean. We’ll have to compare photos and remembrances the next time we’re together. Enjoy evening moment. Sending abrazos y mas de San Pancho. Lizzie

    1. Oh Lizzie I would love to compare pictures and hear what it was like with you and Uncle John in Cyprus next time we see you! When can we do that?? Can we plan a visit from our Lizzie to see us in Europe?

      1. Jennie, can’t think of anything more I’d enjoy than meeting up with the Denney’s as they explore Europe and all its surrounds. We’ll have to think about getting our calendars together. I’m not sure I can make it to Europe in 2017, as I’m in México for 3 months then back to the States with a meeting at the Computer Museum in San Jose, CA in late May. I need to be in Austin regularly this summer to enable my sister and her husband to take off in their motor home as they are have been watching over Daddy while I’m in México for 3 months. For your in-basket, some of the places I want to tour are the boot of Italy, and some of the non-tourist Greek islands. By the way Jennie, I think you could start a booking agency that personalizes in planning unique, wonderful places to stay as one travels Europe, as well as air and land issues—based on your clients desires! I’ve found, no matter how much research you do online, it is so helpful to have first hand impressions and photos from someone who has been to the destination recently. Give Nana and Peyton, Reagan, Katilyn and Liam a big hug for me as I know y’all are having a fabulous time in Cyprus! Mucho amor de San Pancho. Lizzie
